Our Staff, In Their Words
Aubrey assisted us for nearly 2 hours, showing expert recommendations for each project. Ruthie was also a huge help finding the perfect perennials. I can’t thank the team at Clines enough.
Ruthie, you are truly a dream come true — a blessing in disguise. Thank you Martha for having this wonderful lady at your nursery. Thank you Clines for being the BEST nursery around!
Aubrey was extremely helpful and friendly. She located what we wanted in the far back and went the extra mile. She made the hour-plus drive from Statesville absolutely worth it!
John and Martha are the best in customer service! You can tell they love to see their customers and work so very hard. The plants are superb — you won’t find any better trees or bushes!
Couldn’t ask for a better inventory. Some of the best customer service I’ve ever had at any nursery. Thanks Mary for all your help and assistance!
Andrew was very knowledgeable, patient, and an asset to Clines. You can save a couple bucks at Lowe’s — but why would you? The little bit extra is well worth it.
The sales personnel are competent and well versed, offering suggestions to fit your budget and sun/shade needs. I very highly recommend their friendly, eager-to-assist staff!
Very happy with the selection — if you can’t find it here, something is wrong! Helpful staff, fair prices, everything looked so healthy. Definitely my new place for plants!!

OUR STORY

John & Martha Cline
Cline’s Nursery is a North Carolina Century Farm with roots as old as 1858.
John’s ancestors started the farm back in 1858, not yet focusing on Japanese maples. As generations continued to run it, John Cline Jr. returned to revitalize the family property after 35 years away. “My dad would be shocked to think that I am now a fifth-generation farmer.”
The land, home, barn, granary, and recovered materials preserve the farm’s deep history. Many of the current buildings were built with the same lumber that held up over hundreds of years. What began as a small family farm is now a specialty nursery known for Japanese Maples, due to John and the Cline’s team’s work.
