Autumn Rouge PP10438

Botanical Name : Azalea Encore

Autumn Rouge™ Encore® Azalea has deep red-pink semi-double or ruffled 2 inch flowers that adorn this evergreen shrub spring through fall that attracts butterflies. Leaves have a desirable fall color. Plant as a hedge or foundation planting. Makes a striking accent or specimen. More drought tolerant than some varieties. Plant high to promote good drainage. Azaleas perform best in acidic soil, which can be amended with chelated iron if necessary. Don’t allow the soil to become dry until established. Prune only to shape after the first bloom period in spring. Fertilize in late winter or early spring to give the upcoming blooms a boost. Plant 4’ apart, center to center, when establishing a hedge. Plant 5 and a half to 6’ apart in the shrub border or as foundation plantings.
