Autumn Princess Encore® Azalea has beautiful semi-double pink flowers on this broad leaf evergreen, compact shrub. Blooms spring through fall. Foliage turns a deep burgundy in the fall and winter. Ideal container plant, specimen and foundation shrub. Plant high to promote good drainage. Azaleas perform best in acidic soil, which can be amended with chelated iron if necessary. Don’t allow the soil to become dry until established. Prune only to shape after the first bloom period in spring. Fertilize in late winter or early spring to give the upcoming blooms a boost. Plant 3 feet’ apart, center to center, when establishing a hedge. Plant 4 and a half to 5’ apart in the shrub border or as foundation plantings.
